JIFFD believes in the trans-formative power of master storytellers. To that end one filmmaker will be given the full support of our community to seek such a future role as a master story teller for the world through and will be recognized based not just on their film itself but also on their dedication, discipline, professionalism and commitment to the art, craft and business of "Film" through JIFFD's Future of the Filmmaker Award.
Dubuque, Iowa, has been a launching point of discovery, exploration and imagination for over 150 years. Western exploration for thousands of families was made possible by the Cooper Wagon Works of Dubuque. The great steam driven paddle wheelers that brought trade into the heart of a young America were built and kept afloat in the Port of Dubuque's docks and factories. From the first winner of the Heisman Trophy to the first civil rights victory in U.S. Federal Court, Dubuque has always been at the cutting edge of change in America.
Now, with the
Future of the Filmmaker Award one more talented artist each year will join the ranks of other artists, educators, scientists, entrepreneurs, professional athletes and even dozens of U.S. Presidents whose journey to greatness began here along the Mississippi River in Dubuque, Iowa.
